So not the best of starts to this blogging business, seeing as though it’s been 2 months since my last post but I’m back and ready to share! I thought I’d relive a moment from last year that you may not have seen or known about…

Last year I decided that sitting around feeling sorry for myself wasn’t going to change anything. Instead; after my Grandad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia I went to a quiet corner and scribbled into my notepad. I wanted to create something that people could watch and respond to, empathise with and want to help. This was going to be a very personal project that hopefully would comfort me during a very numb time. I wanted it to be an artistic yet therapeutic aid that would encourage others to speak out about the affects it has not only the patient but their loved ones who are always there with open arms, only to be silenced by sadness when they are not recognised.

It felt good to be back in the studio and to be turning ideas into choreography. I asked four amazing dancers if they would be willing to embark on this journey and a wonderful film maker to capture it all. I will be eternally grateful to you all…
It all happened so fast. Within 10 days we had created, rehearsed and filmed our piece. Within a month it was live and I couldn’t be prouder!

Take a moment to find a quiet spot. Sit back and take it in.

Let’s heighten the awareness of Dementia.
